The Master Genealogist - TMG

UK Timelines

I use custom timelines a lot when working with TMG. The ones I have written fall into 3 main categories:

  • Research Aids
  • Historical Events
  • Local Events

Research Aids are designed to act as on-screen pointers to possible avenues of research. In this category I have designed timelines covering a number of UK sources.

Please note that the first 3 timelines below are included in the UK edition of TMG.

Censuses

Enumeration dates of UK censuses, 1841-1931.

General Registration

Important dates for General Registration in England & Wales, 1837-1984.

Parish Registers

Important dates for parish registers in England and Wales, 1538-1929.

Scottish Records

Important dates & records for Scottish genealogy, 1553-1901.

Scottish Taxes

Dates of Scottish taxes for which lists of taxpayers survive, 1691-1855, together with their NAS reference numbers.

Under the category of Historical Events, I have written several timelines to help me fit ancestors into various periods of British history.

Jacobites

Events during the various Jacobite uprisings in Scotland, 1689-1746.

Wesleyan Methodist Church

Important dates for the Wesleyan Methodist church in England, 1791-1932.

18th Hussars

Deployment and Service of the 18th Hussars, 1881-1919.

Scottish Episcopal Church

The Scottish Episcopal Church during the 19th century.

Under the category of Local Events, I have designed timelines for places where my ancestors lived for long periods of time:

Cranborne, Dorset

Dates, events & information relating to the parish and manor of Cranborne, Dorset, 1086-1901.

East Lulworth, Dorset

Events in the history of the village of East Lulworth, Dorset, 1615-1830.

Oregon Territory

Important dates in the development of the Oregon Country/Territory, 1818-1872.

You will notice that one of the above timelines is actually for events outside the UK!

To download any of these timelines for your own use, please click on the appropriate link in the tables above.

The timelines are in zip file format. After you download them, unzip the files and place them in your Timeline folder in TMG. They will work in all versions of TMG.
